HOLIDAY LIKE THE A-LIST IN MYKONOS
Discover why everyone from Kendall Jenner to Katy Perry are going gaga for this Greek island
With more and more A-listers visiting each year, the Aegean island of Mykonos has never been hotter. Hip bars and hotels nestle beside rustic tavernas and, whether
THE STREETS ARE INSTA-PERFECT
It’s almost as if Instagram was created to show off the sheer perfection of the whitewashed buildings, with colour pops of blue from the doors, windows and rooftops. Copy MIC ’s Louise and spend an afternoon getting lost in the winding cobbled streets, where you’ll stumble across courtyards filled with bougainvillea, adorable cats, and some of the prettiest churches you could imagine. you want to party harder than the Hadids or just chill, everything you need is less than four hours away from the UK. Here’s six reasons why Mykonos is the place to be seen this summer…
IT’S A POSEUR’S PARADISE
No five-star trip to this isle is complete without a trip to Nammos (Nammos.
gr), an upscale restaurant and beach club in Psarou. Mariah Carey’s had lunch there, while Tom Hanks and Queen Latifah have lounged on the candy-striped sunbeds. Their speciality is fresh fish and premium Champagne, so bring a full wallet.
YOU CAN PICK UP SOME FIERCE SOUVENIRS
Greece has so much more to offer than souvlakis and Mythos. Katy Perry bought these beautiful bracelets during her trip to the island and, if you head to the markets in the Little Venice area, you’ll find hundreds of handmade gifts in the uniform blue-and-white colours. Because you can never have too many miniature replica windmills and fridge magnets, right?
THE BEACHES ARE ON POINT
When you name your beaches Paradise and Super Paradise, you have to be confident they’re up there with the best. The famous folk flock to the achingly cool Psarou beach in the south, where you’ll find crystal-clear waters, yachts, and sun loungers costing 20 euros a go. For a more low-key vibe, seek out the slightly more remote Agios Sostis beach towards the north. Rock up with a towel and a book, and enjoy the gorgeous azure waters without the rabble of tourists and partygoers.
THE HOTELS ARE DREAMY
When Ferne Mccann visited Mykonos last year, she stayed at the Cavos Tagoo resort For £600 a night, you can enjoy chic, spacious rooms, an epic infinity pool and a fully kitted-out spa. If you haven’t recently raked in millions as a reality star, you might want to try the more modest lodgings at Lefteris Hotel
in Mykonos Town. Serenely decorated rooms cost around 40 euros a night, and include a beautiful view from which to admire the pink sunsets.
THE YOGA GAME IS STRONG
No self-respecting celeb jets off without a yoga mat stashed in their luggage. You can’t prove you even went on holiday unless you’ve shared a picture of your beach workout. There are a host of fancy health retreats in Mykonos, but if you’re after yoga with a view, head to the sunset yoga sessions at Castle Panigrakis, where you can look out over the stunning port of Mykonos City. The sunset vinyasa sessions (for beginners upwards) start at 6.30pm and include a mat, towel and complimentary fruit and tea for 30 euros. Book via
