Dubbed “flash” after a visit to Buckingham Palace, has the popularity bubble finally burst for Posh and Becks?

She’s their little princess, so naturally David and Victoria Beckham wanted daughter Harper to have a sixth birthday to remember. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a day to forget, after the family were accused of being “flash”, “pretentious” and “disrespectful” as Harper celebrated with a party at Buckingham Palace.
Yes, the littlest Beckham and her friends were invited to the Queen’s home by Her Maj’s ex-daughterin-law Sarah Ferguson (no, we don’t know how she managed to get the keys to the pad, either) and a great time was had by all (see over the page for more). But, in true Beckham style, they couldn’t resist showing off their perfect family moments on Instagram, which is when the backlash started – and it wasn’t pretty.
We’re told criticism from the public about their flashy ways really got to Victoria, as despite being richer than the actual Queen, with a fortune of £500m, she and David have worked very hard to maintain a reputation as a normal family – and now it all seems to be falling apart.
“Vic has been really hurt by all the criticism and she just can’t understand it,” says heat’s source. “Harper and her friends were invited to the palace for a private tea party – and who would turn that down? Victoria knows they’re in a very privileged position, but she’s always insisted the children live as normal lives as possible.
“The family’s down-to-earth reputation is what’s helped them create their multimillion-pound brand. But it looks as if the public aren’t buying into it as much any more. Ever since ‘Beckileaks’, when David’s emails were leaked earlier this year [he slated the honours committee for not giving him a Knighthood], she feels as if people are turning against them.”
And it wasn’t just the public having a pop – the pair reportedly
angered friend Stella Mccartney, after David posted a picture of her youngest daughter Reiley at the palace with Harper. An insider says, “Stella is pretty fed up about it, because she always tries to keep her kids out of the public eye, and never posts about them on her own social media accounts. She is especially furious, because she has an OBE, and has nothing but respect for the royal family.”
As well as Harper’s tea party round at the Queen’s, Posh and Becks also threw a family bash at their £31.5m London mansion, and Vic proudly uploaded a picture of Harper’s vast pile of presents. However, her followers were quick to criticise, calling the haul an “obscene” amount for a six year old.
