Calum: ‘I’m on the hunt for Mrs Best’

He’s known for his long line of exes (including Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Harding and Elizabeth Jagger), but Calum Best is out to find love once and for all – and he’s called in the professionals for help. Ahead of his appearance in the new series of Celebs Go Dating, Calum, 36, talks exclusively to heat about why he’s serious about meeting someone special this time.
What made you decide to do the show?
I thought, why not let them do the groundwork, and I’ll do the courting, wining and dining? It’s possible I’ll screw up or look like an idiot, but damn, maybe it will help people understand who I am.
Would you say you’re a professional dater?
Hardly. I’m actually single by choice – I haven’t found the person I really want to be with.
Do you want a girlfriend?
Just because I have a lothario past, doesn’t mean that I’m a man who doesn’t want to get married and have kids – of course I do. I’m doing this because I want to legitimately see if the agency can find me someone who ticks all the boxes.
How do you feel about your image as a player?
It annoys the f**k out of me. I’ve never wanted to be the guy who drinks and shags on national TV – I’ve never done that and I never will. I’ve worked my ass off to clean up my rep.
Do you think you will settle down?
Yes, without a doubt. I want a missus. I want a family. I want to be a great dad. I can’t wait.
What did you think of your ex, Sarah Harding, on Celeb BB?
I’ve got a lot of time for Sarah – she’s a good girl. All she wants is to do well for herself – she’s very conscious of what the public think of her. I hope it goes well for her after the show because I think she deserves it.
