The singer wants his ball skills
When you’re Madonna, you’re used to getting the best of everything, and naturally she wants the same for her children. So, who better to call for advice on improving her son’s football skills than David Beckham?
The singer, who adopted 11-year-old David in Malawi in 2006, has been making secret calls to Becks to tap him up for his football knowledge. An insider tells heat, “Madonna called Becks to ask if he would mentor David. He was flattered. She called him herself – it was very nonchalant, one parent to another. Madonna joked that he couldn’t say no, because he and David have the same name.” The insider adds, “Although Madonna and David aren’t close, their sons Brooklyn and Rocco are good friends.”
Madonna, who is also mum to Lourdes, 20, Rocco, 17, Mercy, 11, and four-year-old twins Stella and Esther, recently moved to Lisbon, so David could pursue a professional football career. He has joined the Benfica youth academy, after a successful trial at the Portuguese club in the spring, and he’s currently living at the club’s youth academy in the Lisbon suburbs.
Becks, 42, has shown his enthusiasm for teaching his own four children his beloved sport and was keen to help out. “David and Victoria are always parents first,” our source adds. “So, the next day, David sent over a bunch of emails and phone numbers for the best extra training available, as well as camps that he recommended.” Nice one, Dave. n
