Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father
The premise of this six-part series, dropping on Netflix in full next Friday, is that Jack feels frustrated that he never got to experience a gap year of travelling to classic student haunts like Thailand and Vietnam, so he decides to rope in “Daddy”, aka former showbiz agent Michael Whitehall, for a lengthy journey across Southeast Asia. The elder Whitehall, it turns out, hates travel and has allegedly barely ever left the UK, so he’s not exactly thrilled at the prospect of roughing it with his 28-year-old son. The whole concept is, of course, a blatant excuse for a classic celeb travelogue series, in which the stars take part in such japes as elephant polo and a spa treatment involving slapping, but it’s a jolly fun ride all the way.
