WHAT? A four-part version of China Miéville’s mindbending 2009 novel, this is a dazzling mix of noir thriller and fantastical fiction. It’s set in two cities that occupy some of the same geographical space, but the citizens of each ignore everything that happens in the other city, even if it’s in front of them. The main character is Inspector Tyador Borlú, investigating a murder in his city of Besźel. The victim comes from the other, parallel city of Ul Qoma, but he’s not supposed to recognise its existence… WHO? The Missing’s David Morrissey
