Wayne Rooney’s got a lot of work to do if he wants Coleen to take him back. Most importantly, following her five-point plan to save their marriage

Wayne has some work to do if he wants to win her over

After Coleen Rooney was again pictured with her wedding ring conspicuously absent, it looks as if Wayne is still very much in the doghouse following his arrest for drink driving while taking Laura Simpson – a woman he’d met in a bar – home. But heat has been told that the pregnant star is not ready to end their eight-year marriage just yet, and has come up with a five-point plan to get things back on track. And, unsurprisingly, it’s Wayne who’s got to do most of the work.

“Deep down, Coleen doesn’t want to divorce Wayne. She loves him and thinks it’s best for the boys [Kai, seven, Klay, four, and 20-month-old Kit] that they stay together. And then there’s the unborn baby, too,” our insider says. “But this doesn’t mean she’s forgiven him – she’s suggested some guidelines she thinks will help the marriage, and she wants Wayne to stick to them.”

Top of that list is stopping Wayne, 31, from drinking so heavily, as that seems to lead to trouble. She also wants them to hang out more with their couple mates. Spending more quality time together as a family is also on the list, as well as having fun nights out together once the new baby arrives. Finally, Coleen wants them to go on more holidays as a couple, if Wayne’s football schedule allows it, and her family can look after the kids.

“The times Wayne has got himself in trouble have been when Coleen was away, which is obviously a concern,” the insider continues. “She thinks that this plan will give them a shot at saving the marriage. This can’t keep happening – Wayne’s got to put Coleen and the kids first and realise he has responsibilities. Of course, she’s still very angry with him, but if he can stick to this, then he’ll show her he’s serious about changing.”

While Coleen, 31, has been pondering her future and – as heat has reported, she would be in line for a large slice of his £100m fortune if they did divorce – she feels she owes it to the kids to give Wayne one last chance.

“Family is important to Coleen – and she knows Wayne is a good dad,” our source says. “It’s been a tough couple of weeks and she’s still not over it, but she wants to know she tried her best.”
