Jen’s the new wellness queen
So long, Goop, and take your Moon Dust with you
It turns out Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow have a lot in common – and no, we’re not talking about both of them being with Brad Pitt back in the day. After years of success with wacky lifestyle brand Goop, Gwyn could be about to face some seriously stiff competition from her friend Jen, who’s telling everyone she wants to set up her own wellness empire.
“Jen watched from the sidelines while Gwyneth built this massive business, but always thought, ‘I could do better!’” says an insider close to the actress. “Jen wants to bring her tried-and- true remedies to her fans. There’ll be lots of yoga and meditation videos, plus tutorials and lectures about Eastern philosophy – Jen will invite her favourite yoga gurus to do sessions on her website. And she wants to sell a line of branded products, too – everything from tea to yoga mats to beauty products, and hopefully even a line of prepared meals. It’ll be along the lines of Goop, but less weird, and with more of an Oprah vibe.”
Jen talked openly about her plans last week, confessing, “I have a fantasy where you have this beautiful space with facialists, rotating workouts and meditation classes, plus a café with recipes that are healthier versions of delicious foods, so you’re not deprived. I’m working on it in my brain. Not to sound all woo-woo, but if you go out into the world with inner peace, you’re more joyful.”
And Jen, 48 – who’s been married to Justin Theroux, 46, for two years – thinks she’ll appeal to more women than Gwyneth does because of her own lifestyle.
“Jen has always been curious about the inner workings of Goop and has no doubt learned what not to do through Gwyn’s mistakes,” says our insider. “Jen’s plan is to be more mainstream. She’d like to appeal to the average woman and believes there’s a market.
“Jen will also capitalise on being in a happy marriage. She’ll offer up relationship advice and the secrets to her marital success. Jen believes her fans are itching to get an inside look at her life.”
She’s not wrong there…
