When AJ Pritchard was partnered with Mollie King on this year’s Strictly, the pro dancer couldn’t wipe the grin off his face. And who can blame him? Not only does he get to work with the hot Saturdays singer every day, the couple are second favourites to win the show, thanks to 30-year-old Mollie’s pop background. Almost as soon as they were paired up, there were rumours of a romance, so heat wanted to find out the truth when we spoke to AJ, 22…
How are you and Mollie getting on?
It’s fantastic. Training is just a dream and we’re having so much fun in there.
You looked pretty pleased to get her…
I was so happy. She was who I wanted from the beginning, but until you’re told who you’re dancing with, you never know what’s going to happen.
Did you fancy her in The Saturdays?
I knew who she was and I’ve seen her perform, but when I found out I was dancing with her, I went on Youtube and watched every single music video. I also watched the tours she did and the behind-the-scenes clips to see her personality. I was really trying to find what makes her tick and what we can use in routines. If people at home see her personality, they’ll fall in love with her.
So, what about the romance rumours?
‘Training is just a dream, we have so much fun’
We’re both single and having a fantastic time training, but I’ve only known her for two weeks.
Could it progress?
Who knows what will happen. You do get very close, and the second dance will be a complete change of moves, that’s for sure.
What about Gemma and Gorka? We heard she was the only celeb dancer invited to his birthday party…
Everyone was at the hotel together. It was just a normal thing after the launch, that’s all.
So, there’s nothing there, you don’t think?
[Evasively] I have no idea.
We’ve seen your topless pictures on Instagram – is there competition from the male dancers to look the hottest?
That’s always going on! That’s what keeps us so competitive. For a lot of our group numbers, we have our shirts off, so that keeps us on our toes.
