She’s ditched the diet and is loving life
Let’s be honest, Rihanna has never been a celeb who’s scared to show off her figure – and it’s likely we’ll be seeing a lot more of her hot bod in the next few months. We’re told she’s happier than ever with herself after putting on weight and going up to 150lbs (10st 10lbs). In fact, she’s told friends her curves have given her a new-found confidence and she feels even sexier and more energised.
“Rihanna was happy to put on some weight as she felt it would suit her frame better,” says an insider close to the singer. “She is 5ft 8in and everyone in her family is on the thicker side, so her nutritionist suggested aiming for the 150lb mark because it’s well within the healthy BMI range. This isn’t about eating junk or drinking too much – she sticks to a well-balanced diet and has a detailed eating plan. She still works out five days a week, but she does it with enough food in her system, so says it’s a heck of a lot more enjoyable. Her skin and hair look even better, too.”
It’s been a rocky road to body acceptance for Rihanna, 29, who began her music career when she was just 15. “When she started out in the business, everyone was always telling her she had to be skinny to be successful,” says our source. “She totally bought into it and dieted hard. But her natural shape is on the curvy side, so it’s been a constant battle to fit into the Hollywood mould. “About six months ago, she had this huge breakthrough where she realised she didn’t need to do this to herself. Here she is, this icon of confidence, and yet, she never actually felt that way. She vowed to embrace her real self and stop the crazy starvation right then and there. “She’s so happy she’s finally being true to herself. She’s proud of her curves and has no plans to lose them. She’s never felt sexier and the feedback she’s been getting from the men in her life is nothing but positive. She loves it.” We’re pretty sure her on/off boyfriend Hassan Jameel agrees.
