Poor Courteney Cox. She hasn’t been shy in publicly gushing about fiancé Johnny Mcdaid, even admitting earlier this year to wanting his baby. But it looks like the actress may now be eating her words, after the Snow Patrol rocker ended their relationship for the second time. But, according to insiders, she’s not taking the split well. In fact, she’s refusing to accept it.
“Johnny ended it about six weeks ago,” an insider tells heat. “It wasn’t entirely surprising as they had been drifting apart again. Johnny decided he needed a break – just like he did when they split a couple of years ago.”
The couple, who’ve been dating since 2013, announced their engagement in June 2014. They then briefly split in December 2015 – a period that Courteney, 53, later described as “so brutal”. At the time, sources said the break-up was down to the actress’ unwillingness to relocate to Johnny’s native Northern Ireland.
But despite Johnny, 41, now living in LA, he’s reportedly still been struggling to commit to the actress. Awkwardly, this comes months after Courteney, who is 12 years older than Johnny, said she’d happily “carry someone else’s egg” in order to have a baby with him, adding, “I may be one of the older people doing it, but I would love to… with Johnny, that is.”
According to our insider, “It seems this might have been her last attempt to get Johnny to commit. Courteney has been hoping for a wedding and to start a family for months now, but Johnny kept putting it off. From his point of view, the spark had gone and he cooled on her, while she was still crazy about him. No one else is involved.” Despite still wearing her engagement ring, Courteney – who has daughter Coco, 13, with ex-husband David Arquette – has been pictured attending events alone in recent weeks. Now insiders say the star is hoping Johnny will change his mind. “Courteney is reeling,” our source tells us. “Jen [Aniston] and other friends are trying to keep her distracted, but she’s feeling very down. Last time they split, they got back together after a few weeks. Courteney is hoping for a similar outcome – but no one is holding their breath.”
