Mel B: ‘I’m on cloud nine’
The singer is getting her life back on track
Mel B hasn’t exactly had the easiest of years, but last week she looked happy and carefree as she holidayed with her family in Hawaii. The trip with her mum Andrea – as well as her three daughters, Phoenix, 18, Angel, ten and six-yearold Madison – showed how close the pair have become again after being estranged for ten years during Mel’s marriage to Stephen Belafonte.
Mel is now involved in a nasty divorce battle and heat ’s sources reveal she needed the trip to get away from it all.
“It’s been a tough time for her – but Mel’s spirits have been well and truly lifted by having Andrea in LA with her,” our source explains. “Her kids love having their grandmother around, and it’s just given everyone in the family a much-needed dose of positivity. Thanks to her lucrative job on America’s Got Talent, Mel’s been able to take them all on holiday. They all had a blast and Mel has been on cloud nine this last week.”
Last month, Mel signed a £1.8m deal to stay on as a judge on the talent show, which has no doubt come as a muchneeded boost after it was revealed she’d blown most of her £40m fortune during her marriage to Stephen.
Our insider says, “Obviously, when she starts thinking about the court battle, she can get down. But she’s doing her best to put it out of her mind when she’s around the kids. She’s still got a long road ahead of her, and it’s quite possible that Stephen could end up being entitled to a lot of their property and belongings.”
Since their split earlier this year, Stephen has accused Mel, 42, of having a drug problem, while she alleges he subjected her to ten years of abuse and had an affair with the nanny.
But thankfully, with her family’s support, as well as that of boss Simon Cowell, she’s starting to rebuild her life.
“Mel’s told friends that Simon has saved her and doesn’t know what she would have done without his kindness and generosity,” our source adds. “He’s reassured her that her job on America’s Got Talent is safe for the foreseeable. He gave her a lifeline and he’s happy to see her finally enjoying herself again.” n
