Couples in crisis #1: Mark Wright’s staying in Los Angeles for his career and wife Michelle Keegan is not happy

The couple are set for a showdown this Christmas

-

It feels like Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan have been apart more than they’ve been together in their two-year marriage – and it looks like it’s not going to get any easier for the couple as they are heading for another TWO years on opposite sides of the globe.

The pair have barely seen each other since April – with Michelle filming BBC drama Our Girl in South Africa, Nepal and Malaysia, while 31-yearold Mark has been trying to break America as a showbiz reporter for TV show Extra. Now, heat can reveal the pair – who last saw each other in August – are set for a new crisis as it looks like it will be 2020 before their schedules calm down.

Our insider tells us Extra bosses have been so impressed with Mark’s talents, they want to extend his one-year contract for another 12 months – but only if he stays in LA full-time. “Mark has had to break the news to Michelle about how this job isn’t going to end any time soon,” a friend of the actress reveals. “She already knew it was coming, but she hasn’t quite come to terms with it yet. She’s just worried that there’s going to be more trouble ahead.”

Mark – who only started his job in September – recently revealed he’d scrapped their plans to spend Christmas in LA, preferring to return to Essex. However, Michelle is due to fly out to America at the start of December once her filming commitments are complete. While we’re told they will be happy to be reunited, the couple will be having

crisis talks about how to make their relationship work, especially since Michelle, 30, told heat last week she was too much of a homebird to live in LA for long. “The worst thing is that this Christmas they should be spending quality time together and catching up, but the reality is that they’ll be having big discussions about their future,” our source adds. “It’s a nightmare. Michelle’s really standing her ground. She doesn’t feel that she should have to uproot her life for him and is now wanting Mark to put a time limit on how long he thinks he needs to stay out there. Right now, things are tense. Mark’s going clubbing and living the LA lifestyle. Whereas, when Michelle is on set, she’s in her trailer learning lines, it’s hardly glamorous.”

The subject of starting a family will also no doubt crop up, as Michelle has said she’s broody, but having a baby any time soon looks difficult. “One of them is going to have to compromise as they can’t have a family when they’re living apart,” our source adds. “They’ve got so much that they need to sort out.” n
