Heat (UK)

heat goes to the gym with David Beckham. Spoiler alert: he smells amazing

What it’s like to get sweaty with Goldenballs

-

Forget fancy restaurants and hip bars, the best place to hang out with A-listers is the gym. And heat found itself working out next to the biggest star of them all – David Beckham – at Barry’s Bootcamp in London. And, yes, we can confirm he looks just as good in his workout gear as he does in a dapper suit. We tried as hard as we could to remain nonchalant, and we managed to find the answers to your burning Becks questions…

What does he smell like?

One fellow Barry’s goer describes him as smelling like “heaven”, and we reckon that’s pretty spot-on. Becks is clearly not the person to jump straight out of bed and head to the gym, and we think he’s showered, moisturised and put on some aftershave (his own, we presume) before heading out the door.

What does he wear?

Sadly for Becks lovers, the dad-of-four stays fully clothed during the session (unlike a lot of the male attendees, who take their tops off), and opts for a T-shirt, exercise leggings and shorts. He’s also a fan of a hat, though he takes off his back-to-front baseball cap halfway through the class.

Does he hang out with the general public?

Unlike other celebs who go to Barry’s, Becks is happy to mingle with the rest of the class. He chats to people, and even asks heat if he can use the locker next to ours (we nearly faint). He’s happy to wait around outside the studio until being told to go in by the instructor. No star treatment for him.

Is he seriously fit?

Definitely. The class involves interval weight and treadmill training, and we witness the 42 year old pick up the heaviest weights for his session. He doesn’t even sweat that much while using them. And on the treadmills, he hits the highest speeds and inclines.

What does he do after?

He hangs out in reception, chatting to instructors and fellow classmates, as everyone discusses how tough the class is. He then rewards himself with two protein shakes and heads home to Posh.
