A quickie with... Greg and Dotty

-

Did you know each other beforehand? Greg: Yes. I’ve worked with Dotty a few times on Radio 1, and I’ve been on her 1Xtra show and thought she was so funny and sparky. Listeners really warm to her.

Dotty: It’s an amazing vote of confidence to have Greg’s endorsement. He introduced me to a wider audience by having me on his show. He’s taking a finder’s fee for this. You’ll have big names on SLFN. Who would you love to have on?

D: Biggie Smalls as a hologram, but I don’t think we can do that.

G: We basically made a list of everyone we’ve been listening to this year, everyone who’s been on Radio 1 and who have been on festival line-ups or who’ve had No1 albums, and household names that people recognise. There are also new bands who really deserve that kind of exposure.

Are you nervous about the live aspect? D: Very! I could play it cool, but let’s be honest – I think it’d be crazy not to be scared. Will you both be involved in the sketches? D: I am going to be involved in everything I can possibly be involved in – even if it’s not in their plans I will worm my way in.

G: I love doing that [kind of thing], so this show does marry up my favourite things, presenting and arsing around. Greg, you famously dressed up as Cheryl in the Crazy Stupid Love vid for heat...

G: I did. That’s the thing – if there’s a great pop video that comes up one week, we’ll have the opportunity to do the parody of it on the show. And I think being quick and first is key. Also, there’s not enough silliness knocking around. I don’t mind being silly, it’s what I’ve always done – it’s all I know.
