Victoria has been left devastated by new marriage rumours as David gets friendly with a real Posh bird
As rumours rock her marriage once again, Posh has had enough
They may look like the couple who have everything, but there are serious downsides to being the Beckhams.
Last week, it was claimed that David’s been growing closer to socialite and model Lady Mary Charteris, after meeting her at Glastonbury earlier this year. In fact, insiders claim the new pals have even been spotted on a series of nights out together in London – which hasn’t gone down well with an “angry” Victoria. Now the fashion designer is telling friends that she’s close to breaking point over the stories that keep surfacing about her marriage.
“Victoria is furious that rumours about her and David have come up again,” says an insider close to the pair, who’ve been married for 18 years and have four kids – Brooklyn, 18, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 12, and Harper, six. “It seems like whenever things are going well for the family, there’s always something like this to set them back.”
Reports last week claimed that David, 42, has been spending more and more time with It Girl Lady Mary, 30, and Victoria isn’t very happy with the new friendship. The pair bonded after
meeting at Glasto in June, the same event at which David and Victoria had a huge row, as reported in heat. The pair were introduced by mutual friends agent Dave Gardner and director Guy Ritchie, and sources said David’s been “partying with Mary at events into the early hours of the morning.” In fact, reports say one onlooker at London’s Chiltern Firehouse claimed the former England footballer even got protective during a recent night out, when another man approached Lady Mary. The source said David told him, “She’s with me.” David’s publicist later denied the reports, calling them “absolute nonsense”.
Our insider tells heat, “Mary is the complete opposite to Victoria, and although they hung out at Glastonbury, they didn’t get on well. Lady Mary’s very wild and is the life and soul of the party. She’s part of the Primrose Hill set and has a lot of male friends. Her and David just clicked straight away and have struck up a strong friendship. She has a really fun personality and they get on well. David’s been going partying a lot more in recent months and that’s really not Victoria’s scene, especially when she’s so busy with work. Of course she trusts David 100 per cent, but she’s upset over the rumours and what people will think of her marriage.”
It’s already been a tough year for Victoria, 43, who recently admitted, “I haven’t stopped crying” since her eldest son Brooklyn moved to New York to attend the Parsons School of Design a few months ago. The businesswoman has also been preoccupied with work, appearing at events for Fashion Week around the world, as well as launching her own make-up range with Estée Lauder. “She’s had a lot on her plate and this feels like the final straw,” says a friend. “And it’s not just work. Victoria’s had to put up with a lot of negative headlines over the past year, including David’s hacked email scandal, him partying with model Poppy Delevingne, and a public row at Glastonbury [the weekend where they met Lady Mary]. She doesn’t know how much more she can take. It’s also been tough for her because she’s really missing Brooklyn. They’re very close and she always wants him around, especially at times like this when she’s struggling.”
Despite this, VB, 43, has told friends she won’t let these reports hurt her marriage. “Obviously Victoria does get upset by stories like the one about Lady Mary,” says the insider. “But no matter how stressful she finds it, she refuses to allow this to come between her and David. She’s worked hard to create the perfect family life and there’s no way she would let this destroy all that. She wants to prove to people that she’s not letting this get to her and will continue posting happy pictures on Instagram – like the one of her and David together on a date night last week. Yes, Victoria’s been really busy lately, but things are slowing down a little now and she intends to make more time to be with David and her kids. They’re enjoying the school holidays in LA at the moment, and she’s excited about spending as much time together as a family as possible.” ■
