Nicole’s fury as she’s forced to deny being a prostitute after shock allegations
The ex-pussycat Doll has been dragged into shock allegations
The sexual abuse revelations coming out of Hollywood in the last few weeks have been impossible to miss – but one in particular last week shocked those closest to X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger. Former Pussycat Doll Kaya Jones spoke out, claiming the group was “a prostitution ring” where music industry executives would “get you hooked on drugs” and try to make the members “sleep with whoever they say.” “Nicole is completely shocked and horrified by the claims,” says a source close to the singer, who was part of the band until they split in 2010. “She’s absolutely denied knowing anything about it and is terrified that fans will start to make assumptions about her past.” Kaya, who was in the band for two years until 2005, made the allegations in a series of tweets, later adding in an interview, “How many times does a girl hoping to make it big have to push an older man off her?” She added that she left the band after she met a four-year-old fan, saying, “This girl wants to be me. If she succeeds she will have to cope with sexual predators and verbal and mental abuse, she’ll suffer from eating disorders, she’ll consider suicide. I just thought, ‘I can’t do it any more.’” The group’s founder, Robin Antin, called Kaya’s tweets, “disgusting, ridiculous lies.” Meanwhile, Nicole and the rest of the Dolls, who recently announced plans to reunite, said in a statement, “We stand in solidarity with all women who have spoken publicly of their experiences of abuse, harassment and exploitation. However, we cannot stand behind false allegations towards other group members.”
It’s not the first time Kaya, 33, has spoken about her time in the band. She’s previously accused Nicole of being “someone who wanted to be in the spotlight and would do anything to get it.” Our source adds, “This has brought back a lot of awful memories for Nicole. She was a different person back then and she’s admitted to struggling with an eating disorder when they were given those skimpy outfits to wear. There’s no denying that the record industry can be a dangerous place for young girls. And the thought of any of her bandmates going through something like this breaks Nicole’s heart – she wants to reach out to Kaya, but she’s been told not to get involved.”■
