J-rod: ‘We’re twins – we just get each other’
You can’t miss it, these two are madly in love
S he may have been married three times, but Jennifer Lopez is keen to tell us that her romance with Alex Rodriguez is NOTHING like she’s ever experienced before. Last week, the power couple gave us a peek into their perfect world for a joint interview with Vanity Fair – and, just in case we weren’t sure, it’s definitely true love.
“I understand him in a way that I don’t think anyone else could, and he understands me in a way that no one else could ever,” says the mum to twins Max and Emme, nine, from her ten-year marriage to singer Marc Anthony. “We put so much pressure on ourselves to be great, to be the best all the time. We understood that about each other. When we came together it was like, ‘Oh, my God, I was the same way.’”
And the baseball star – who has two daughters from a previous marriage – is just as smitten, saying, “We are very much twins. We’re both Leos; we’re both from New York; we’re both Latino and about 20 other things.”
The pair started dating in January – a whopping 12 years after first meeting at a baseball game. Jen revealed their cute reunion, after spotting him walking past one day when she was having lunch in Beverly Hills. “I almost yelled out ‘Alex’, but I am the shyest person when it comes to things like that,” she said. “But I walk over and tap him on the shoulder and say ‘Hey.’ He looks at me. I say, ‘It’s Jennifer.’ He says, ‘You look so beautiful.’”
Their first date was an equally romcom-worthy dinner at the Hotel Bel Air, which ended with a fire alarm. “He was sitting there in his white shirt, very
confident and manly, but then he was just so talkative!” Jen, 48, said. “I think he thought I was going to be this loud person, but I’m not. I just listen… I don’t know if he thought it was a date. I thought it was a date. Then I knew he was nervous because he asked me if I wanted a drink. I said, ‘No, I don’t drink,’ and he asked if I minded if he had one. He was nervous, and it was really cute.” Shortly after, Alex, 42, sent his date a message from the bathroom that read, “You look sexy AF.” No wonder Jen’s so smitten – who could resist a loo text?
