Grace: ‘The pressure’s on to win ALL the prizes’

But she can’t take them till next year. Oh.

While we’re loving the new-look X Factor live shows, there’s one thing we’re very confused/intrigued about – the introduction of the “prize fight”, where the two most popular contestants battle it out for a money-can’t-buy treat. And we’re not talking about a lifetime’s supply of toothbrushes here.

In the first week, Grace Davies won a trip to meet Pink in New York so, obviously, we wanted to get all the details, mainly when it will take place.

“It’s not happening until next year, so I’m really looking forward to it,” she exclusively tells heat. “We’re very busy at the moment so probably won’t have time to use the prizes before then.”

And if the 20-year-old singer continues to top the public vote, she’ll be a very busy girl. “I suppose there’s now pressure to win again, although it’s amazing to just get through. Winning the ‘prize fight’ was crazy, I couldn’t have expected it,” she says. “We’re working so hard for this, going to bed in the early hours of the morning and getting up in the early hours , then spending all of our days in vocal training and choreography classes – it makes it worth it when you win.”

And the more prizes you win, Grace, the less expensive Chrimbo will be. But for now, she’s making the most of being on the show and living in a plush London pad with the rest of the contestants.

“Living in the house is mad. I’ve only been used to living with one person before and now we’re all watching scary movies together, playing ping-pong and having cushion fights,” she reveals. “I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

Being away from home means her mentor Sharon Osbourne has become a “motherly figure”, despite reports that she wasn’t keen on getting the Girls’ category. She says, “Oh, Sharon is amazing, I know she didn’t want the girls but we’re so pleased with her and we think she is with us, too. She texts and Facetimes us loads, even checking up on little things like if we can walk in our shoes. I didn’t expect her to do that!”

The X Factor continues on ITV, Saturday & Sunday evenings
