Poor Brooklyn’s missing Blighty already – but Posh wants him to stick it out

Their homesick oldest son wants to quit college

-

Remember when you left home, and then all you wanted to do was run back to your mum? Well, no one knows that better than Brooklyn Beckham right now, as he tries – and fails – to get used to life at college in New York. In fact, insiders tell heat that the wannabe photographer’s already had enough and is ready to quit uni and return to the UK – an idea his parents have very different opinions on.

“Victoria and David are clashing over Brooklyn’s future,” says an insider close to the couple, who are also parents to Romeo, 15, Cruz, 12, and Harper, six. “Vic is devastated that Brooklyn wants to quit already, and doesn’t think it’s the right thing to do. They’ve always tried to instil their work ethic into Brooklyn, so they are concerned he is giving up at the first hurdle. Victoria wants him to work his way up in the industry, just like she had to, but it seems he wants the fast route to fame and success. She says he should try to stick it out for at least a year.

“David is more sympathetic and can see it from Brooklyn’s point of view. He thinks he’ll be much happier at home and can pursue his photography in the UK – he already has the contacts. It’s causing tension, as the family try to work out what is best for him.”

Brooklyn, 18, left home in August to start a photography course at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in NYC, and has made no attempt to hide how homesick he is. Last Wednesday he wrote on Instagram, “Missing my family so much :( :( :( love you guys,” and three days before that, he wrote, “Missing England” – a week after writing the exact same comment on another photo. He’s also been pining for his actress girlfriend Chloë Moretz, so no wonder he’s had trouble feeling settled in New York.

And Brooklyn isn’t the only thing causing tension between the couple, who’ve been married 18 years. As heat told you last week, Victoria’s been feeling left out of things as she spends all her time working, while David’s been off socialising – leading to reports about his friendship with notorious socialite, Lady Mary Charteris. “He’s been out virtually every night lately, partying or hanging out with his mates,” says another source. “It’s difficult for him and Victoria to find time for each other at the best of times and this Brooklyn problem is just the latest thing they need to deal with.” n lucy vine
