Just because he keeps saying no, it won’t stop the GC
Oh, how we long for the confidence of Gemma Collins. The TOWIE star gave all the haters a metaphorical middle finger last week as she strutted about in Tenerife wearing a see-through, mesh swimsuit.
And while the internet tried to decide if they loved or hated it, Gemma was busy making baby plans. After revealing she wants to get pregnant with her co-star and on/off friend with benefits, James “Arg” Argent, the reality star is preparing to do whatever it takes to have his child.
Gemma, 36, has spoken openly about how broody she is, and on last week’s episode, she turned to a spirit for guidance. Waving about a purple pendant, she asked the ghost, “Will Gemma and Arg have a baby?” It swung about a bit, causing Gemma to exclaim, “Shit, that’s a ‘Yes’. I’m excited, spirits never lie to me.” Later in the episode she confronted Arg, 29, about his feelings for her, and despite telling her he “just wanted to be friends”, Gemma didn’t seem ready to take no for an answer. She told him, “There is something between us. We hug each other all the time. I know we’re just friends, but in my head I think it’s a shame.” But she eventually seemed to give in, saying, “That’s it, then – no friends with benefits. We’re pulling the plug.” However, GC later said nothing would complete her more than a proper relationship with him and posted lots of loved-up pictures of them on Instagram.
The pair share a complicated history of almost-dating and sperm stealing. After first hooking up seven years ago, Gemma told Arg he wasn’t “ever gonna get this candy” during a pool party in Marbella. But he’s had that candy more than once since, and in October last year she admitted trying to “trap” him by sneakily trying to get pregnant after they’d slept together one night. “It wasn’t the right thing to do, but I really wanted a baby,” she said. “What I did was a bit much.” Since then, Gem has been on a baby mission, visiting fertility specialists and announcing, “If I hadn’t been on TOWIE I would have a baby.” She’s frozen her eggs and even claimed that she was looking for a sperm donor, but it’s clear her ovaries only have eyes for Arg.
Whatever happens, we know Gemma’s not going to let anything bring her down. Following last week’s controversial outfit, she declared, “I’ve said it before, I don’t need to explain my outfits. It’s not for everyone, but I loved it – why shouldn’t a plus-size girl wear mesh? Who said they couldn’t?” Damn right, GC.
