TESS: ‘MY MARRIAGE NEEDS WORK’
She and Vernon still have to deal with past issues
After the most successful series of Strictly Come Dancing ever, Tess Daly’s professional life is going from strength to strength. However, the 48 year old recently admitted that things aren’t quite as peachy in her private life with husband Vernon Kay.
“All marriages have their moments. It would be unrealistic to say they don’t,” she tellingly said in a recent interview. “Marriage is always a work in progress. Vernon and I are just people at the end of the day.”
A particularly difficult “moment” that Tess may be referring to came in 2010, when her husband was found to have been “sexting” glamour model Rhian Sugden behind Tess’ back. After the news hit the tabloids, Vernon was forced to own up to his mistake and apologised live on air on his national radio show, saying, “I’ve disappointed and let down a lot of people. To my family and everybody – I’m very sorry.”
Tess vowed to stick with her husband, stating that although it had been “tough” for the couple, their marriage was “worth fighting for”, especially as they have two children, Phoebe, 13, and Amber, eight.
A whole five years later the couple faced more problems when rumours circulated that Vernon, 43, had contacted Rhian again wanting to “reconnect”. At the time, Tess swore she would not let Rhian “ruin their marriage” and while things may not be perfect, she seems to have stuck to her word.
