Victoria Beckham’s pulled off a bit of a social coup by becoming Meghan Markle’s new BFF. Wonder if she knew Meg needed a dress designer?

With just over five months to go until the most anticipated event of 2018, the race to snag an invite to the royal wedding is most definitely ON. And in pole position for a spot at the breakfast buffet? It’s none other than Victoria Beckham – aka Meghan Markle’s new BFF. “Becoming friends with Meghan is a dream come true for Vic,” an insider close to the designer tells heat. “She really admires and respects Meg and is hoping this is the start of a good friendship. She’d love to have her and Harry over for dinner soon.”
The new besties are said to have grown close over the past month, after Vic gave Meghan some all-important professional hair-and-beauty recommendations. After all, when you’re the new girl in town and every follicle on your head is scrutinised, you need all the A-list tips you can get. From there, we’re told, their friendship has blossomed – a coup for Vic who, although she and David attended Prince William’s wedding in 2011, hasn’t been seen mixing in royal circles since.
“They have grown close and regularly text after Victoria told Meghan to visit facialist Sarah Chapman,” our insider says. “Meghan trusts Vic’s advice and is now thinking about using the same hairdresser. And Vic’s keen to go shopping with Meghan, too – she could show her all the great places to go in London. She’d also love to have Meghan come to her store one evening to give her a private look at her designs – it’d be amazing to have Meg wear her clothes.”
But don’t think that Posh is happy being a style directory alone. We all know that every friendship demands a bit of give and take, and Victoria’s hoping for a pretty sweet return on her insider tips. A wedding invite, yes – but that’s only the beginning. “Of course, she’s hoping that she and David will get an invite to the wedding, but also that she’ll convince Meghan that she’d be the perfect person to design her bridesmaids’ dresses,” our source tells us, adding that who gets to design Meghan’s gown is still being debated. But let’s not forget that Posh has experience in bridal couture – last year, she designed three dresses for her good friend Eva Longoria’s big day.
“Getting this would be the biggest achievement of her career and would elevate her to iconic designer status, as well as boosting brand Beckham even more,” our insider adds. “Vic is a very determined person and rarely takes no for answer, so nobody would be surprised if she was involved in the wedding one way or another.”
