Bey’s a Bride again
The couple are putting the past behind them
On 4 April, it will be ten years since Jay Z put a ring on it and Beyoncé stopped being a single lady. But it’s not been all plain sailing. The couple have had a rough few years, thanks to rumours about Jay’s cheating. But now that they’ve worked through their issues (using their music “like a therapy session”, as Jay put it in a recent interview), they want to move forward.
“Beyoncé and Jay came so close to divorcing that making it to their tenth anniversary is a huge accomplishment,” a source close to the pair tells us. “A lot of hard work and therapy helped them through a very tough situation. Not many couples survive infidelity, but they did and they’re better than ever.”
We’re told the pair want to properly celebrate the huge milestone, and renewing their vows seems like a perfect way to do it. “They’re in a new stage of their lives and their marriage,” the insider says. “They have both done so much growing over the past ten years. Jay knows he’s incredibly lucky that Bey could forgive him after everything he put her through. He wants to acknowledge that and celebrate it. Doing this was his idea.”
And, we’re told, in order to show just how serious he was about reaffirming his commitment to Bey, the rapper made the ultimate gesture. “Jay actually got down on both knees,” the insider adds. “He thanked Bey for sticking it out, and asked her to marry him again. He gave her another huge diamond to add to her collection. It was a complete surprise – she was extremely happy, obviously.”
The insider says the renewal will take place in the spring and the couple want the event to be a huge musical celebration. Unsurprisingly, the guest list is set to be A-list, with children Blue Ivy, five, and six-month-old twins Rumi and Sir playing key roles.
“People like Serena Williams, Ciara and her old friend [author] Lala Anthony are going to make the list,” we’re told. “Beyoncé is considering asking Gwyneth Paltrow to be their witness – they’re really close. It’s going to be an emotional day.” n
