‘I want a week-long hen do with willy straws’

Vicky Pattison talks wedding stress and hen-do mega lols

-

She’s the original Geordie Queen of the Jungle, occasionally outspoken TV presenter and all-round top lass. Chatting exclusively to heat, Vicky Pattison, 30, tells us about the stress of planning her wedding to businessman John Noble, how to maintain a diet after the Christmas splurge, and just how wild her hen do is going to be…

How’s it going, living with John?

We’re not living together properly yet. We bought the house in the summer and have been decorating it ever since. I was able to tie up some loose ends before Christmas, so we’re hoping to have a couple of months together before I zoom off on another project. I’m so desperate to wake up every morning with him and make him breakfast. Hang on, what am I talking about? Have him make me breakfast!

Have you started wedding planning?

Slowly but surely. I’m still reeling from the stress of my engagement party in October. We had 250 guests at an amazing venue and we organised photo booths and five-tier cakes.

How are you going to top that for the wedding?

Oh, I’ll probably top myself first! I need a break. John took on the “site manager” role with the house, so it left me doing all the party planning. When it comes to the wedding, it needs to be far more of a joint effort, but we don’t need to rush. At the end of the day, I know he’s The One. That’s all that matters. I’m more concerned about my wedding night. I’ll be wearing some pretty nifty underwear.

You must be planning a fun hen do, though…

I don’t want a spa day or a night out. I want a week somewhere like Ibiza, Marbella or Mykonos in a massive villa. I want willy straws everywhere and everyone in pretend veils. I want to drink cocktails and go to beach parties. I want it to be the biggest and best hen do the world has ever seen. All the girls are invited: Ferne [Mccann], Casey [Batchelor], Cally [Jane Beech], Danielle [Armstrong], and Jess [Wright], my sister, all my mates from school… and heat’s invited!

Can’t wait! What are your fitness goals for this year?

Normally, come January, I say I’m going to be really strict, but it just doesn’t work. By about the fourth, I’m as sick as a chick and missing gin and cheese. This year, I’m working with Hartley’s jelly and I’m going to be more realistic. I’m going to have all the things I enjoy, but in moderation. If I fancy something sweet, I’m going to reach for a 10 Cal Jelly Pot instead of brownie bites.

How do you stay motivated to keep fit?

Life’s for living, and as long as you’re doing everything in moderation, you should be OK. Exercise regularly, train if you can, eat right. That’s the key. It’s not doing anything crazy. Faddy diets don’t work – have that gin and tonic.

Do you and John work out together?

We go to the gym together, but we train separately – he trains in the weights section and I do resistance circuits. We always manage to meet in the middle for little kisses, though, much to everyone’s annoyance. We’re THAT couple.

Vicky has joined #Team10cal, dedicated to helping the UK stay on track this January. Available at all supermarkets, Hartley’s 10 Cal Jelly Pots make the perfect guilt-free treat.
