Becks is looking for a bachelor pad in Miami and – surprise, surprise – Posh is not happy
Living an ocean apart could be putting the marriage under strain
The trouble with being an internationally famous jet- setting couple is that it tends to take you to opposite sides of the world – a situation that seems to be causing major problems for David and Victoria Beckham. Insiders tell heat the former sportsman is preparing to buy a place in Miami now he’s finally setting up his football club, but the decision hasn’t gone down well with Posh.
“David is set to announce that he is moving ahead with his plans to launch a team in Miami – and it could really test his marriage,” says our insider close to the couple, who are parents to Brooklyn, 18, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 12, and Harper, six. “He hopes the team will be playing by 2020, and they both know he’s going to have to spend a lot of his time over there for a few years. They’ve got to build the stadium, and find sponsors, a manager and coaching staff, and then sign some players. He always assumed Victoria would move there with him – but she says her work and life is in London now. In an ideal world, she would be with David, but she knows that the children need stability right now, so she would feel very guilty if she had to uproot them again. David understands they need to put the kids first, but it’s going to be a big challenge.”
The US move has been in the pipeline for four years now, and last week reports revealed that the former England captain has so far spent £27.6million on the project – including £20m of loans to buy land for the 25,000-seater stadium. We’re told, “David is so happy this is happening after so many years of negotiations, but it’s not going to be easy to get it all done – this has to be his focus for the next few years. Victoria understands, but of course, she’s really worried about them being apart. They already have very busy schedules and being on opposite sides of the Atlantic is only going to make it worse.”
It’s a major change for the pair, who – as heat has previously reported – have been “spicing up their marriage” after more than 20 years together. “David really thought he could persuade Vic to move to Miami with him, and he took the family there over Christmas. But she said it would be difficult,” the insider

adds. “So now David is looking for a pad in South Beach just for him. He says he wants to be in the middle of all the action, but Vic isn’t so keen, and it’s brought back memories of the troubles they had with the media when David moved to Spain and she stayed behind in the UK.”
Back in 2004, when David played for Real Madrid, a newspaper reported he was having an affair with his PA, Rebecca Loos – something he has always denied. The source goes on, “Vic doesn’t like the idea of women throwing themselves at David and pictures ending up in the media. She knows he would never cheat on her and she trusts him, but she would prefer them both to be living in London together.” n
