They’re passionate when the cameras are on them – but are Love Island’s Chris and Olivia just faking it?

It’s all rows and drama when the cameras are off

- CHARLOTTE OLIVER

Let’s be honest: watching Chris Hughes and Olivia Attwood getting together on Love Island last summer was like watching a train wreck – on a loop . But still, we hoped they could make their stormy romance work long-term. And for a while, it seemed like they’d found their groove.

But as their new reality show was announced last week, they appeared to be rather more off than on. While they defended their relationship on Lorraine, when heat attended the National Television Awards that very night, we noticed they kept their distance from each other at the after-party, following an apparently not-very-discreet barney – and a flustered Chris was not his easy-breezy self. So just how genuine is their relationship?

“They’re still having rows and are very on and off,” an insider close to the couple tells heat. “But, at the moment, they can’t end things because they have to do this TV show together. They have to put on a united front.”

The show, titled Crackin’ On, is an upcoming reality series that follows the pair as they prepare to move in together. In a teaser clip, we see them shopping for furniture (inset) and engaging in those adorable, but frustrating, squabbles we know so well from Love Island. But, amid the excitement of taking the next step in their romance, we’ve spotted some serious red flags. Before last week, neither Olivia, 26, nor Chris, 25, had posted anything about each other on social media since 2017 – coincidentally, as they began promoting their new show, they reappeared once more on each other’s timelines. Then, at the NTAS, they shared a rather awkward

red-carpet kiss and sat next to each other during the ceremony, but once the cameras were turned off and celebs hit the after-party, we failed to see them together once. Except for when they had a big barney.

Olivia later confirmed the row in her blog, revealing that Chris had a go at her for doing her own thing at the party. In a rather bizarre and lengthy explanation, she also wrote that Chris “needs to learn” and “is a bit of an oddball at times.”

And she seemed far from loved-up when heat met her at our NTAS photo booth (although she was very excited to meet Paul O’grady). Her response when we asked if she’d marry Chris? “Er, do pigs fly?”

All this appears to cast serious doubts over their future. While we would love it to be for realz, sadly, we fear it might just be “a little bit, leave it”.
