DOI’S Max: ‘My skating makes my rugger mates cry’
He’s giving his friends goosebumps – blimey!
Having severely hunk-ed up our Sunday nights on Dancing On Ice, Scottish rugby star Max Evans, 34, is now the bookies’ favourite to win. We chat to him about moving us to tears and undoing those shirt buttons a little further…
How are you feeling after your initial success?
I’ve been buzzing. I’m so happy the public like me and – so far – have kept me on the show.
Lots of people have talked about your chemistry with your partner Ale Izquierdo…
I was very lucky to get her as a partner, and it shows. The biggest compliment we’ve got is how good our chemistry is. When I get comments about our chemistry – it’s such a huge compliment in terms of nailing our performance.
Your routines have been quite intimate – how does your girlfriend find it?
I’ve got the most incredible girlfriend. She’s so supportive, she’s also a dancer so she’s very understanding of the relationship you need to have with your partner in order to have chemistry, to put in good performances.
How have your friends and family reacted?
I’ve had some of my rugby mates message me like, “Bro, I was actually crying watching it,” or, “It gave me goosebumps.” I mean, what a feeling to be able to do that.
Are you enjoying the glam outfits?
I’m always trying to push to show a little more skin each week, but the producers are strict. But if there’s enough of a desire from the public for me to show more skin, then they’ve got to do what the people want!
