Go Dating – why did you decide to sign up?
For me, it came at a remarkably good time. I’d just broken up with my ex-girlfriend – and I’m not joking when I say I’d never dated before, so it was really nice to have the agency. Yes, it’s a TV show, but these guys are actually experts. They help you in a lot of ways to grow as a dater, and as a person. I know that sounds corny, but it really did help me in more ways than one.
What kind of girl were you hoping to meet?
I actually didn’t know. Obviously looks are a thing, but if you can “get me”, then that goes a long way. If you can understand that I’m needy as f*ck and that I do dress up in my sister’s clothes to take the piss out of her on Instagram, then you could just be the woman for me. I’m not the most normal chick in the chicken coop.
Are you careful about not drinking too much on a date?
Nah, I get hammered. I get hooned. Anything to numb the nerves.
Did you fancy any of the other celebs taking part?
Yeah! I’d probably date Tallia [Storm], Jade [Jones] and Gemma [Collins]. But I’m not there to hook up with one of the celebs. I wanted to get stuck in and take it seriously. It makes better TV and you have more fun. But yeah, I mean Jade’s stunning, Tallia’s cool, and Gemma’s banter is top notch.
You have developed a new bromance, though…
Mike is an absolute boy. I love him to bits. I feel quite sorry for him. He just walks into a room and people are like “Oh, it’s Muggy Mike”. If someone called me “Dickhead Sam” when I entered a room, I would immediately become a dickhead. He says some interesting stuff, but he’s not malicious. I really like him. We’ll be mates for life.
