The actress is talking again to her daughter
They’ve had a rocky motherdaughter relationship, but after years of being estranged, Nicole Kidman and eldest daughter Bella are finally back on speaking terms – and it’s all thanks to Bella’s clothing line.
Bella recently launched her T-shirt company BKC (Bella Kidman Cruise), and it’s thought to be the first time she has acknowledged her mum’s surname in public and not just that of dad Tom Cruise.
“Nicole has been fully supportive of Bella’s fashion line and has even invested some of her money in it, as has Tom,” our insider explains. “Bella and Nicole have really grown closer over the past few months and are getting on so much better. Nicole has promised to help out and get extra publicity for her designs. They’re both focusing on moving forward with their relationship now.”
Ever since Nicole’s acrimonious split from Tom in 2001, the actress has reportedly been alienated by Tom’s Scientology community. Bella, 25, and her brother Connor, 23, who were raised inside the “church”, opted to live with Tom. It has been reported that Nicole was considered a “suppressive person” or “SP”– a label Scientologists use for those who don’t support their beliefs – and had less contact with her children, who she adopted as babies with Tom.
A few years ago, Nicole admitted they didn’t call her ‘Mum’, and she didn’t attend Bella’s wedding in 2015. Nicole’s now married to Keith Urban and has daughters Sunday, nine, and six-year-old Faith. Eyebrows were raised last year after she won an Emmy for Big Little Lies and only thanked her younger two children.
She said, “I have two little girls, Sunny and Faith. And my darling Keith, who I asked to help me pursue this artistic path. And they have sacrificed so much for it. So this is yours.’” However, she later acknowledged Bella in her Golden Globes win.
Her eldest is also hopeful that her new business venture will help improve relations between Tom and Nicole. “They have both taken an active interest in Bella’s fashion line – it’s got them talking again,” our source says.
“Bella hopes they can all start to get along better, but knows there’s still a long way to go.” n
