Alica Vikander is Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider reboot
Cert 12A, 118 minutes, in cinemas 14 March
Starring: Alicia Vikander, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu Director: Roar Uthaug
THE PLOT London bike courier Lara Croft (Vikander) goes in search of her father (Dominic West), who mysteriously disappeared seven years ago while seeking a fabled tomb on a Pacific island. WHAT’S RIGHT/WRONG WITH IT? First appearing in 1996, the megaselling Eidos videogame series previously yielded two rather iffy movies starring Angelina Jolie, and this reboot from the splendidly named Roar Uthaug has been long in the works. Has it been worth the wait? We sadly can’t tell you, as reviews are embargoed until after this edition of heat prints.
VERDICT If anyone can deliver screen intensity while running around in a skimpy vest, it’s Oscar winner Vikander. Fingers crossed!
