Their divorce was finalised at the end of last year, after they spent most of 2017 separated, but heat has been told Louise Redknapp is struggling with the realities of ex-husband Jamie Redknapp moving on. Especially when it’s said to be with 37-year-old French fashion model Julia Restoin Roitfeld. Oh, mon dieu!
“Louise was obviously fuming when she found out that Jamie was dating,” an insider close to the singer tells us. “She’s angry that she stayed in the marriage for as long as she did, and understandably hearing stories about Jamie with another woman really hurts her. It’s made her feel really insecure.”
Louise, 43, filed for divorce a year ago, after 19 years of marriage, citing Jamie’s “unreasonable behaviour”. She then threw herself into relaunching her career, starring in Cabaret and recording new music, as well as hitting the town with new BFF Daisy Lowe. Meanwhile, Jamie, 44, was rumoured to be fighting to save their marriage right until the end. Now, with Jamie back on the dating scene before her, we’re told she’s not happy.
“Lou feels as though Jamie wasn’t being as honest as he could be,” says the insider. “He begged her to try again with their marriage, and for him to move on so quickly seems like he’s making a mockery of that. Yes, she’s had her fun lately, but she didn’t think she was being disrespectful to Jamie. It’s all been about her getting back to music and having fun with friends.”
The football pundit is said to have begun dating Julia, who is the daughter of former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfield, late last year, and the pair have apparently been on a number of dates in London. Now, we’re told Louise is worried that Jamie could introduce her to their sons, Charley, 13, and Beau, nine – and they may even spend time with her five-year-old daughter Romy Nicole. “Louise is worried that they’ll all play happy families,” says our source. “Or worse, that Jamie ends up having a baby with Julia. Louise has made no secret of her desire to have a daughter – it would really hurt if Jamie had one with someone else.”
But the singer isn’t prepared to sit and mope – not when she’s come so far. Our source tells us, “She says that she wants more wild nights out. She doesn’t want Jamie to see she’s been suffering. She knows she’s already wasted a lot of time on him – she wants to move forward.” n Charlotte oliver
