It’s a match made in pop culture heaven – the girl from Harry Potter and that boy from Glee. Cute, right? After pictures of Emma Watson, 27, and Chord Overstreet looking very coupley emerged, fans were overjoyed to see the worlds of Hogwarts and Mckinley High come together in the name of love. However, an insider tells heat that Emma’s friends are warning her to be wary of her new boyfriend. The 29-year-old actor and singer has had a series of high-profile romances in the past – including Lily Collins and Rumer Willis – and those around the actress are worried about his intentions.
“Emma’s really fallen for Chord, but some people are worried he may be using her for her connections. Chord’s had a bit of a reputation as a player and a social climber in the past. He got in with Demi Lovato through her label and ended up as opening act during her tour with Nick Jonas. He’s passionate about his music career, but he also wants to be a movie star, and Emma knows a lot of producers.”
But it’s not just Chord’s ambition that friends are concerned about. In 2011, he dated actress Emma Roberts for a year and their relationship was said to be full of drama. “He’s well known for breaking Emma Roberts’ heart,” we’re told. “She had a dark side, too, so there was definitely fault on both sides. But Emma Watson is a total sweetheart and no one wants to see her get hurt.”
Emma, however, is said to be smitten with Chord – we’re told she’s already met loads of his friends and is keen to meet his family in Nashville.
“Emma’s friends just hope that Chord doesn’t walk all over her. There’s no talking Emma out of it, though – she has reassured everyone she knows what she’s doing and that she trusts Chord.
“She doesn’t care who he’s dated or what people say about him. She’s happy with Chord just the way he is and says they have a lot in common and – she hopes – a future together.”
