When you have a combined following of almost 175million fans, you gotta keep them interested somehow. And for J-LO and Kim Kardashian, the quest for queen of the sexy selfie takes no prisoners.
An insider close to the celebs has told us, “They’re actually really good friends, but they can get a bit competitive about who’s a bigger sex symbol. Jen always says she had the original famous butt, but Kim will always go the extra mile when it comes to the really raunchy snapshots and sees herself as a social media icon.”
The ladies are often pictured at events together and at each other’s houses. The Kardashians are also great friends with Jen’s boyfriend, former baseball player Alex Rodriguez. Both ladies are savvy businesswomen, too, and know exactly how social media can help their brand. Our source says, “It’s not just about who looks better, it’s also to do with how many likes they get. Kim has really strengthened her brand – which is built on her sexy and confident body image – with social media. And with all the sponsorship she is offered, it makes sense that J-LO would want a slice of that action.”
Kim, 37, and Jennifer, 48, have two of the most famous physiques in the world, and they know they need to maintain their iconic curves. But we’re told J-LO feels like she’s on the back foot, being over ten years older. “Jen’s in the best shape of her life, but she’s constantly asking her friends, ‘Do you think I look better than Kim?’’ our insider says. “Whenever Kim posts a hot photo online, Jen starts working out how she can top it.”
Recently, Kim posted a snap of herself in a white bra and mini skirt. A few days later, J-LO posted a pic of herself in a stunning white gown working a similar pose. Kim seemed to knock it out the park three days later, with a revealing picture of herself eating noodles in Japan. Topless. But Jen fought back with a shot of her in some skimpy gym kit.
Although the stars are competitive, our source explains that there is no real beef between them. “It’s something their friends always laugh about. It’s a friendly competition that’s been going on for years. Sometimes they just get a bit carried away trying to one-up each other.” n Katie Holloway
