Bieber: Ditching showbiz for God
He’s ready to drop songs for sermons
Praise be! We can always rely on the Biebs to remind us what’s important in life. And last weekend, while the majority of us were scoffing our weight in chocolate eggs, Justin Bieber brought home the true meaning of the holiday, telling his Instagram followers, “Easter is not about a bunny, it’s a reminder that my Jesus died for my sins… I am set free from bondage and shame!” Now, we’re told the pious singer is considering dedicating himself full-time to spreading the message of God. Can we get an amen?
“For Justin, keeping the faith is very important,” reveals an insider close to the star, who split again from his long-term on/off girlfriend Selena Gomez last month. “After going through so much – the pressures of fame, family drama and losing the love of his life – he’s been saved. Religion is the only thing keeping Justin on the straight and narrow. There’s even a part of him that’s tempted to give up music and dedicate his life to Jesus. He says that’s the greatest high of all.”
The 24 year old, who found fame as a baby-faced teen idol, has a chequered past – getting into frequent run-ins with the law over the years for drug use, vandalism, reckless driving and violence. But since finding his feet in LA’S celeb-packed church Hillsong – and being baptised by its pastor Carl Lentz in 2014 after being “born again” – he’s been realigning his priorities. Our insider explains, “He still likes to party, but not as much as he used to. He says there’s a little voice in his head that tells him to stop.”
What’s more, we’re told that the star, who finished his Easter sermon to fans by telling them, “I am a child of the most high God and he loves me exactly where I am for who I am,” has upped his church attendance. Not only does he attend Hillsong on Sundays, he also goes weekly to the equally trendy Churchome church in Beverly Hills. A source tells us, “The first few front rows are reserved for him and his friends, and it’s somewhere he can go and get VIP treatment.”
