What’s the solution to Cheryl and Liam Payne’s relationship problems? Another baby, of course

As her and Liam holiday in paradise, she’s got plans for them

Cheryl and Liam Payne’s relationship has really been put through the wringer in recent weeks. And, while there has been speculation that the couple had talked about ending things,

heat has learned they want to make the relationship work, partly for the sake of their one-year-old son Bear – and because they both love the thought of giving him a baby brother or sister.

The family recently jetted off on a luxurious holiday where their every whim was catered for, and we’re told Cheryl and Liam were hoping to use the time away to reconnect as a couple and discuss their future. “This was the first occasion in months that they had spent proper time alone as a family and, while it was great for them, they were both a little anxious about it,” our source says. “There is obviously still a bit of tension between them, but they agreed this holiday was about really trying to work things out – no more rows, no more criticising each other and just having fun as a family, enjoying Bear. Cheryl has always been open about wanting more kids, and their deal was always that they would try to have more, but she knows they

have to work on things to make this happen. They both really want to make this work and friends think she may be feeling broody now Bear has turned one.

“Despite their issues, a part of her would love nothing more than to have another child as soon as possible – and she can’t help but get a little gooey every time she sees cute little girl outfits.”

Cheryl, 34, has been discussing the situation with her friends and family, and they’ve told her to go with her heart because nobody can predict what will happen. “She regularly thinks that she should just go for it, get the relationship back on track and then expand their family,” we’re told. “[Her mum] Joan has been through failed relationships and life as a single mum, and her attitude is that Cheryl should just stop worrying about things and get on with it. If more babies are what she wants,she should start trying – she says no relationship is perfect, so it’s best to just try and improve the one you have.”

As heat has previously told you, the couple have been struggling due to work schedules, meaning they are spending increasing amounts of time apart. Since Bear’s arrival last March, Liam has had many international work commitments due to the launch of his solo career, which has seen him mainly based in America. However, in a recent interview, the 24-year-old singer said he won’t be slowing down any time soon, because he wants to provide a stable future for Bear (maybe somebody should tell him that he’s already worth £50million).

“Being a father is grounding,” he said. “You realise that you are not working hard to improve things just for yourself, but for them as well. I realise I can build something for him to have, as long as I work as hard as I can right this second. So, I’ve got to hit the ground running. Unfortunately, it’s a risk that I will miss out on certain things. I am aware of that, but it’s important for me that I carry on and make this right for him.”

And our insider says he and Cheryl will be using this holiday not only to talk about how they can improve coordinating their schedules, but also relaxing and having fun. “Liam wanted them to just have a laugh together,” we’re told. “He was really looking forward to the holiday – he’s knackered from work and the constant travel, so he just wanted to chill out on the beach and spend time with Cheryl and Bear. It’s about having quality time together – and agreeing on a future. He has made it clear that he’ll be working hard over the next few years, but he’d love Cheryl and Bear to spend more time with him, so he knows compromises will have to made by both of them. He adores being a dad and knows part of the deal of being with Cheryl is expanding their family, which is something they’re both keen on. They both want to make it work.”

Before the holiday, which we’re told included a super-luxury villa with its own pool and butler, Liam had flown to Dubai to perform

some shows. While he was there, he was pictured talking to one of his backing dancers, leading many to speculate what was going on between them.

However, Cheryl was quick to defend him, writing that though she usually shrugs off this kind of gossip, she was compelled to speak out. “I can’t ignore this story involving an innocent dancer colleague of Liam’s who has a fiancé, and dragging them into this desperate attempt to cause problems between Liam and I,” she wrote on Twitter.

It was one of the only times Cheryl has spoken out about the state of their relationship, and our source says it shows that she is trying her best to make things work. “The past few months have been really tough on them both, and Cheryl gets really angry that Liam can’t even speak to a female without being accused of cheating on her,” the insider adds. “She finds it really disrespectful, especially when she and Liam have a baby together. She knows things aren’t perfect, but she recognises they have so much to fight for. They have a beautiful son and Cheryl says being a mum is her biggest achievement. Having more kids would be great and Liam is the only person she wants to do it with.”
