Scarlett Moffatt certainly isn’t afraid to voice an opinion, especially when it comes to her love life. She’s only been dating male stripper Lee Wilkinson for around two months and things already seem serious. And while her friends are said to be concerned that he’s only using her for money and fame, defiant Scarlett insists that couldn’t be further from the truth and hates anyone bad-mouthing him.
“Scarlett is totally in love with Lee and trusts him completely, so understandably, she gets upset when people question his motives,” an insider tells heat. “Her friends are worried that he’s only with her to boost his profile and benefit from her lifestyle, but she has assured everyone that is not the case. She knows Lee is with her because he loves her and she’s never felt this happy with anyone, so she’s just ignoring any negative comments.”
Scarlett, 27, confirmed her relationship with Lee in February by posting several loved-up snaps of them on Instagram. She’s known Lee for around ten years, but things only became romantic after they met up at Christmas. However, an ex of his claimed he was a “fame hungry cheat” and was just using Scarlett, although there’s nothing to show that is true.
The woman, who didn’t want to be named, said, “He’s a cheat and always has been. He has no respect for anyone and he’s just using [Scarlett]. He regularly told me how he just wanted to be known as Instagram-famous – that’s the type he is.”
And there’s no doubt Lee is enjoying the celeb life. On his Instagram account, he’s always quick to post about their glamorous nights out and weekends away. We’re told he’s practically moved into Scarlett’s £300,000 home in the North East – which is also where Lee is from – and is a regular visitor when she films Saturday Night Takeaway. In fact, he even managed to blag himself a trip to Florida for the show’s finale last week, despite almost missing his flight due to a lost passport. And while he was there, photos of him emerged strutting around shirtless in what looked suspiciously like a set-up shoot.
But Scarlett – who split from boyfriend Luke Crodden last year – is not concerned, and is glad she’s had a supportive boyfriend these last few weeks. After being wrongly accused of playing a part in the break-up of Ant Mcpartlin’s marriage to Lisa Armstrong, it was then claimed she’d duped her fans with her weight-loss DVD by going to a strict boot camp and taking diet pills. And we’re told Lee has been her rock.
“Since becoming a TV star, Scarlett knows that people have ulterior motives with her, but that is not Lee,” our source adds. “She feels she can really be herself with him – he’s been a great support to her and put a smile on her face. She loves sharing her success with those she loves and Lee is one of them. She was really feeling down at the start of the year, but he has turned things around and she’s really grateful to him. Scarlett doesn’t care what other people think.” n
