Goodbye to love – Channing and Jenna have called time on their marriage

The truth behind their gushy split statement

-

Love’s dead, guys. And it died the day we opened our eyes to the sorrowful news that – after nine years of marriage, one adorable daughter and countless sexy dance routines – Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan were splitting up. Or, in their words, had “lovingly chosen to separate”.

Hitting Instagram to break the news, the stars took the friendly break-up statement to new heights, telling their fans, “Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision – just two best friends realising it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible.”

But while the celeb couple’s gushing statement outdid the “conscious uncoupling” lovefest that was Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s break-up, we’re told that – behind the scenes – things are a little less rosy.

“Jenna felt that they had begun to drift apart, and it didn’t help that Channing was always away filming a big movie project, while her schedule was considerably less busy,” an insider tells us.

When the pair first met and fell in love on the set of the 2006 masterpiece that was Step Up, they were both up-and-coming unknowns. But since then, Channing’s movie career has gone to dizzying heights, while Jenna’s mainly stuck to TV work in LA, where they’re based with their four-year-old daughter Everly. Our source says, “She’s working hard, but sometimes felt the marriage had to compete with his Hollywood career.”

Meanwhile, we’re told Channing’s friendship with his co-star Halle Berry, who appeared alongside him in Kingsman: The Golden Circle last year, caused tension. Our source says, “While there’s no suggestion Channing did anything wrong, Jenna felt he was spending too much time with Halle when he could have been at home.” And we can’t even watch

Step Up to cheer us up.
