Posh’s final push: why she reckons another baby will bring her and David closer together

Is the world ready for another Beckham?

-

She may have said she was “done” with having children, but it seems Victoria Beckham can’t resist that newborn cuteness and is ready to become a mum of five. We’re told the 44-year-old star is seriously considering expanding her family one last time after pregnant best friend Eva Longoria made her broody – and she also thinks another baby could make her marriage to David stronger.

“Vic always said that, after Harper, she would never have any more kids, but seeing how radiant Eva looks seems to have really changed her mind,” says our insider close to the Beckhams – who are parents to Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 13, and Harper, six. “Eva is really taking the pregnancy in her stride, and she’s only a year younger than Vic. It’s made her realise that anything is possible, even the idea of having a fifth child.” The friend adds that the realisation has come at a significant time for Vic, as everything in her family life seems to be changing. “What with David moving to Miami, and Brooklyn growing up, the idea of getting pregnant again makes her feel that it will bring the family closer together, no matter what the circumstances are.”

As heat has told you, it’s been quite a tough year for Posh, family-wise. It was recently revealed David would be spending more time away from them as he launches his own football team in Miami, and she’s had to deal with eldest son Brooklyn moving to New York for college and establishing his own life – something that was bought into focus when he

skipped a recent family trip to Disneyland in LA – where the Beckhams had been spending the Easter holidays – in favour of going to Coachella with friends.

“After seeing Brooklyn having a wild time at Coachella – when she had hoped he might spend more time with the family – Vic is starting to get empty nest syndrome massively. She suddenly feels as though all her kids will be grown up before she knows it,” our insider adds. “Romeo is going to be 16 this year and is already talking about how he wants to study abroad like his big brother, and although Vic understands this is a normal situation, of course it can be hard at times. She feels as though all her babies are getting ready to leave.”

The insider adds, “She’s been loving catching up with Eva in LA, and has confided in her about all her fears in her family life at the moment. Eva totally understands and has told Vic that she should go for it and that it’s not too late. She even said that their kids could have play dates together if she hurries things up!”

We’re told Victoria had been worried about her age, but now she has seen others do it – including her former Spice Girls bandmate Geri Horner, who had son Monty at 44 – she thinks a baby could mean her and David spending a lot more time together. She knows what a great dad he is, and he’d want to be as hands-on as possible. “Vic is in great shape and really healthy, and feels as though she’s still got time to consider this. Seeing Geri have another baby last year also changed her view on having a child later in life and now she feels as though she shouldn’t rule it out,” the insider says. “She’s also thinking that another baby would encourage David to spend less time in Miami. The change for the family has been massive and it’s left her feeling really lost at times.” But that’s not all. “As well as David being around more, Vic knows the kids will also be excited about having another baby brother or sister. David’s on board with the idea, and they’d both love another girl, so Harper could experience having a sister. If it happens, then Vic is thinking that she could base herself in Miami for an extended period of time, so that David could look after her and still work on setting up the football club. She would even consider having the baby there if it meant that David could share the experience with her.”

Both Victoria and David have said they’d like five children in the past and the insider adds that the arrival of their niece Peggy (daughter of David’s sister Joanne) last December has reminded them how much they enjoy being around babies. We’re told, “Even though they know their lives will change again, they are ready for everything a newborn involves. Vic never thought that she would seriously be considering having a fifth child, but then again, she never thought a lot of things would happen, like David moving to Miami or her reuniting with the Spice Girls. There’s been so much change and uncertainty going on that getting pregnant again feels like Vic’s way of

gaining back control in her life and planning for a future her way. She likes the idea of taking matters into her own hands, and taking the power back in her family life. Having a family is the best thing that has ever happened to her and David, and both of them would be thrilled if they were blessed with another baby.” ■ KATE RANDALL
