Be the life of the party

Melissa Mccarthy brings the serious funny to this hilarious new comedy in cinemas this week

-

We’ve all got one – that friend who just has to walk into the room and before you know it, the party’s started (seemingly without any effort, annoyingly). But what if that person was… your mum? Well, that’s just what happens in new must-see comedy Life of the Party.

Forty-something housewife Deanna’s life is turned upside down when, out of nowhere, her husband dumps her for a younger woman. But forget mainlining ice cream and crying over soap operas. After relieving herself of her ex’s possessions by way of a backyard bonfire, Deanna decides to turn regret into reset – by heading back to college and getting her degree. The only problem? She’s now in the same class as her daughter and she’s soon making one hell of an impression…

Melissa Mccarthy plays Deanna, and the stand-out star of Bridesmaids and The Boss is at her uproarious best. Want to make an impression when meeting your daughter’s frenemies? Tell them how long you breastfed her for. Best way to get over your lousy ex? Get to know the hottest looking guy at the nearby frat house. Got an itch to scratch? Have sex in the, er, library.

From killing it on the dance floor to doing the actual walk of shame, Deanna certainly knows how to be the Life of the Party. And with a cameo by Christina Aguilera, this is THE unmissable mother-and-daughter comedy of the spring.

One word: Va-google…
