Katy & orlando get the holy seal of approval

She kissed the Pope’s hand and she liked it

When you’re looking for a blessing for your rekindled relationship, you can’t really go higher than the Pope. Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have recently confirmed rumours they’re back together, and were clearly keen to make sure the head of the Catholic Church was informed of their rebooted relationship status.

The 33-year-old singer visited Rome last week as part of a charity campaign, taking Orlando, 41, along for the ride. The pair were able to meet the Pope at the Vatican while they were there, and Katy said she was, “Honoured to be in the presence of His Holiness Francis’ compassionate heart and inclusivity.” Quite.

After being guaranteed a place in heaven (is that how it works?), Katy and Orlando went on to enjoy a romantic Roman holiday. And now friends close to the pair are saying it won’t be long before there is a wedding.

“They’re deeply in love, and everyone’s convinced he popped the question in Rome,” says a source within the actor’s inner circle. “Since they’ve both toned down their partying, this romance has become the real deal.”

The couple first got together at the beginning of 2016, but, after more than a year, they went their separate ways. Our source tells us, at the time, they were struggling to commit.

“In the past, they were more reserved, cautious, and both clinging onto being single. They went through incredible highs, and then periods where they didn’t get on well. But things have really come together now, through trial and error.”

Katy only confirmed she was “spoken for” at the beginning of April, but the couple seem to be stronger than ever. Orlando gushed over his rekindled romance with the singer just last week, saying, “She’s a remarkable human being – and, you know, when you get hit sideways, you get hit sideways. You don’t pick who you fall in love with.”

And friends of the actor, who’s dad to seven-year-old son Flynn with former wife Miranda Kerr, believe he’s ready to commit again to Katy.

So, with the Pope’s blessing, Orlando just has one more scary obstacle to face for Katy’s hand in marriage… her parents.
