A right royal LARK IN THE PARK

George and Charlotte are loving life on a day out

-

Oh, what fun one has in the sun! Especially when one is young, carefree and blue-blooded… Just ask Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The mini royals looked the picture of childhood abandon last week as they frolicked in the fields on a family day out in Tetbury, while their dad took part in a charity polo match. The siblings gave mum Kate a breather as they made use of their stockpile of games – including toy guns, paint sets and a slinky – before skipping back for snuggles.

George, who turns five next month, did his Pa proud as he practised his polo swing with a mini mallet, while three-year-old Charlotte upheld her reputation as Princess of Sass by rocking some killer shades, before entertaining the squad with an impressive headstand. Meanwhile, the pair’s cousins – seven-year-old Savannah and Isla Phillips, six, the daughters of Princess Anne’s son Peter – also mucked in, making it a happy reunion following the previous day’s festivities, where the group had assembled for the Trooping the Colour parade.

The annual ceremony, which marks the Queen’s birthday, was a typical display of pomp and ceremony, but it was wee Savannah who stole the show – and gave Charlotte a run for her sass money – as she took it upon herself to maintain order on Buckingham Palace balcony. Clearly unimpressed by George’s singing of the national anthem, the 15th in line to the throne put her hand over her cousin’s mouth to shut him up. She also jokingly conducted the orchestra, while great-granny – HRH Queen Elizabeth – did little to hide her disapproval. Atta girl, Savannah – challenging the establishment from the inside.

But while the weekend merriment involved a roll call of royals, there was one notable absentee – Prince Louis – who hasn’t reappeared in public since his birth two months ago.

Come on, Kate and Wills, give him a bit of sunshine – the boy needs his vitamin D.
