‘THE SHOW MAKES YOU SO PARANOID AND INSECURE’

The former Love Islander tells us tears are inevitable

-

There’s no denying that the Love Island villa is an intense place to live – and few people know this better than Kady Mcdermott. When we speak to the ex-islander, who was labelled “fiery and temperamental” during series two, we’ve just seen current islander Rosie Williams lose the proverbial and give partner Adam Collard a very public dressing-down for trying to flirt with Megan. But while some said Rosie over-reacted, Kady disagrees. “Oh my god, Rosie didn’t react enough,” she begins. “I would have caused even more of a scene. Unless you actually go into Love Island, I can’t even explain to you how paranoid and insecure you get. Girls are insecure anyway, so imagine going into an environment where that’s multiplied by 100.” The 22 year old had her share of dramz with Scott Thomas on the show, but they made a good go of it in the real world, eventually breaking up last December after 18 months together. But hopes of a reconciliation are quickly dismissed, as Kady tells us there’s “no way” they’d get back together, and they haven’t spoken for months. “The last time was in January,” she reveals. “But apparently, he’s going to Olivia [Buckland] and Alex [Bowen’s] wedding, so I guess I’ll see him there. I’m not going to lie, it’ll be awkward. Maybe I’ll have a glass of wine to settle my nerves.”

As for her current love status, the reality star begins by telling us she’s “so single it hurts”. But, after a fair bit of prying, the plot quickly thickens. “Erm, I’ve got a date soon with someone from last year’s series, but I don’t want to jinx it, so I’m not naming names! I don’t want to scare him off,” she says. As if that’s going to stop us. In response to our hunch that it must be Chris Hughes, Kady laughs… and nervously laughs some more. “I’m not saying anything,” she says. Looks like Cash has a new stepmum!
