‘Gemma has put Arg on a “sperm diet”’

Gemma Collins is feeling on top of the world these days. With a book out, a reality show in the works and possibly a “very good” sex tape to look forward to (although, she’s since denied it), there’s only one thing missing in her life: babies. Friends say the star wants kids ASAP, and she’s embarked on a serious health kick to get her – and Arg – in tip-top baby-making condition.

“Gemma’s got such baby envy right now,” says an insider. “She says that everywhere she looks, someone is pregnant or pushing a pram. Being a mum is all she’s ever wanted. She knows that at 37, her window to get pregnant is getting smaller. She also knows that shedding a bit of weight could help the process, and she wants to make it happen as soon as possible.”

In December, the reality star revealed that she was trying to lose weight to help with fertility issues, including polycystic ovary syndrome and a low egg count. But friends say it’s now Arg’s turn to examine his habits, too. “Gemma has put him on a ‘sperm diet’,” our source tells us. “She’s encouraging him to get fit and healthy, which means eating lots of vegetables, fruit and greens. She says she’s done lots of research in this department and reckons this new regime will help his performance. She wants the best quality sperm to make babies with!”

After six years of back-and-forth-ing, Gemma, 37, and Arg, 30, confirmed they were getting serious in the most recent series of the ITV2 show, even opening a joint bank account together. They’ve since had a few wobbles – falling out over smoked salmon (Gemma threw it out the window) and unfollowing each other on social media – but sources say they’re serious about taking this next step together.

In recent chats the self-confessed diva has played it cool about baby plans, even telling heat last week, “It’ll just happen when the time is right.” That’s despite years talking openly on and off-screen about her desperation to start a family. Gemma visited a fertility clinic on camera, and later said she’d go it alone if need be, insisting, “Nothing’s going to stop me.” The controversial star also admitted that at one time she had tried to get pregnant without Arg’s knowledge, saying, “It wasn’t the right thing to do, but I really wanted a baby.”

heat ’s insider adds, “Gemma is trying to appear laid back, but she is so ready for this. She would love to have a summer baby – or twins, ideally – and really hopes she and Arg are parents by this time next year. This diet is more important than any she’s done before, so she and Arg might actually stick to this one.” ■
