Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan have a one-year plan to keep their marriage alive

Mark’s giving up America to make it work

They’ve hardly had the most conventional of marriages since tying the knot three years ago, having spent much of that time on opposite sides of the world from each other. But during a recent trip to Majorca, Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan reconnected to sort out their future, which will involve, er, more time apart. But the good news is their marriage is only on hold for one more year.

“The past few weeks have been really good for Mark and Michelle in terms of sorting their future out,” an insider tells

heat. “The holiday gave them time to relax, have fun and iron out any issues. While Mark is loving life in LA, he knows he can never convince Michelle to move there full-time and has accepted that his future is in the UK.”

Michelle officially lives in Essex, where the couple have a home together, but recently she has spent a lot of time in her native Manchester, as Mark has been based in Los Angeles since landing a job as a reporter on entertainment show Extra last September. We’re told, “Mark’s signed with Extra for another year, but they’ve come to a compromise that he will see out his contract in the US, while Michelle remains in the UK and once that’s over, he’ll head back to England so they can start a family together.”

In an interview on singer Jessie Ware’s podcast last week, Michelle – who was seen cheering on her husband as he DJ’D in Majorca – joked that she still wasn’t ready to have kids yet in response to Jessie talking about some of the more gruesome details of childbirth. However, we’re told Mark and Michelle, both 31, are thinking about looking for a family home. “They’re looking at bigger properties in Essex – which is where they see themselves settling,” says the insider. “They want somewhere they can raise a family.”

Although our source tells us Michelle had hoped Mark would be back in the UK by September, she has said she’s happy that their separation is only for one more year. This may also have influenced her decision to sign up for the fourth series of hit BBC drama

Our Girl. Michelle has been playing the role of Corporal Georgie Lane since 2016, and is said to be heading abroad in January to begin filming again.

Our source says, “They both think this is for the best and feel better now they’ve got things sorted, even though they’ll be living apart again for another year.”
