Surprise! Robbie Williams and Ayda become parents again

X Factor judges use surrogate for third child

-

Given how much Robbie Williams and Ayda Field like to overshare, they properly took us all by surprise last week when they announced the arrival of their third child, a little girl called Coco. Posting a black and white picture of the family’s hands, Ayda wrote, “I spy with my little eye an extra little hand. So we have been keeping a very special secret! We are delighted to share with you that we have had a baby girl…. welcome to the world Colette (Coco) Josephine Williams!! It has been a very long and difficult path to get here, which is why we have kept it on the down low. Family comes in all forms, and this little lady, who is biologically ours, was carried by an incredible surrogate mother, to whom we will be eternally grateful.” She continued, “We are over the moon to have this beautiful baby girl in our lives, and so blessed that we live in a world which makes this possible.”

The couple married in 2010, and are already parents to daughter Teddy, six, and son Charlie, three. Ayda, 39, gave birth to her two eldest kids, with Robbie, 44, famously live-tweeting Charlie’s delivery. It’s thought they had been trying for a while before going down the surrogacy route. Last year, Robbie revealed he’d had his sperm frozen, because he has a very low testosterone level. He explained, “We want — and wanted — kids and if I take testosterone, it knocks the swimmers out. If I don’t take testosterone, I feel dreadful. So, we had to bank some.”

It’s certainly going to be a busy time for them, as they are both judges on this year’s X Factor, so they may not be at home as much as they would like. Both have gushed about parenthood in the past, with Robbie saying how becoming a husband and dad helped save him from his drink and drug addiction.

“I’m hooked on anything that takes my mind off me,” he said. “It used to be food, drugs, sex, the internet, smoking or TV. Now it’s my daughter. I’m in a content stage of my life. That’s because I’m married with a kid. I’m less reckless.

“I thought it was all about the cars and the clothes, the girls and the house. But none of that is for me. With a baby girl, there’s a point to it other than my own ego. I’m now tethered to the planet.” n
