Danny gatecrashes Jani’s date night

It’s always nice to have a chaperone

After being crowned the winners of Love Island this summer, you’d have thought Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham wanted to make the most of their new-found fame by attending showbiz parties as the glittering new celeb couple they are. But they got more than they bargained for at last week’s TV Choice Awards, as her dad Danny Dyer was their third wheel all night. Tbh, Jani didn’t seem to mind one bit, and as for Danny senior, well, the Eastenders actor couldn’t contain his excitement.

“It’s lovely to be out with these two.

‘It’s a beautiful thing, and long may it carry on’ danny

They’re shattered. Running around like lunatics, ain’t ya?” he said, looking at them affectionately, and adding, “Superstars these two. Dragging their old man along. I’ve hardly seen them [recently] to be fair. I love them to pieces, but they’re so busy running around doing things. But I’m proud, so it’s nice to hang out tonight, yeah.”

The trio went outside to the smoking area, where they caught up with other stars, including some of their Love Island mates. Jack was overheard saying that although he was having a great time, he wasn’t sure about all the posing and red-carpet walking that comes with fame. However, he may have to get used to more attention as Danny and Dani also revealed that they’re in talks to star in their own reality show with Jack. “It’ll either be brilliant and amazing, or a total car crash,” Danny revealed. “Maybe we should only do it for the right money?”

Danny – who won the Best Soap Actor award for his role as Mick Carter in Eastenders – also spoke about how protective he is of his daughter and her boyfriend. “I feel like a fan girl myself! No, I’m proud of them,” he said. “She has done unbelievably. It’s nice to sit back and watch it unfold. At the moment, all you lot are being kind to them, and I hope it stays that way. It’s a beautiful thing, and long may it carry on.”

The only blot on the landscape was that Jack admitted he’s “still waiting” for Danny to sign the canvas picture of him that hung in his bedroom.

Give it time, Jack, give it time.
