“Friendship never ends,” but apparently it does for Posh
She’s in no mood for girl talk
S he used to sing (or lip-sync) that “friendship never ends”, but decades later, Victoria Beckham’s apparently not only avoiding her friends, she’s actively ditching them. The reason, we’re told, is that the designer just can’t face the inevitable questions and concerns over the state of her and David’s marriage – which is reportedly at an all-time low following that disastrous Vogue cover shoot. And rather than face up to their problems with her trusty band of gal pals, Vic’s said to be battening down the hatches and culling her contacts.
“There have been so many rumours about their marriage recently and, obviously, people talk,” an insider close to the couple tells heat. “Vic didn’t used to mind the gossiping, but the past few months have been super-hard. She and David are set to spend the rest of the year apart due to work commitments, so the last thing she needs is her friends asking awkward questions.”
Earlier this month, the Beckhams hit the headlines again following their startling interview – and accompanying photo spread – for UK Vogue. Despite David being there on the day, he failed to make the front cover of the regular edition, with Posh appearing instead alongside their four kids and dog, Olive. In the piece, Victoria, 44, spoke of their 19-year marriage in clinical terms, saying they were “stronger together” than as individuals, without mentioning any love for her husband.
And 43-year-old David, meanwhile, has seemed just as cold, with recent pictures of the family on holiday showing him barely acknowledging his wife. Then, there are the persistent reports that the couple are living increasingly separate lives, so it would be no surprise if her friends had questions for the star – but she’s not prepared to answer them. In fact, we’re told the only person she’s counting on these days is Tana Ramsay, her longtime confidante and wife of Gordon. Even her close relationship with Eva Longoria is said to have cooled – and it appears Vic has yet to meet the actress’ three-month-old son Santiago.
“Vic rarely sees anyone, except Tana, who knows better than to ask about what’s going on,” we’re told. “Eva can be pretty relentless, and Vic doesn’t have the stomach to fend off her questions, let alone open up about the tough situation she and David are in.”
Ah, so maybe this is the reason we’ve never got a response to our forever-pending Facebook friend request?
