Wedding dramz alert – Cara De La Hoyde snubs Olivia Buckland’s big day
She’s not taken being dumped as a bridesmaid well
They had one of Love Island’s most enduring friendships, but it seems Olivia Buckland has uncoupled with Cara De La Hoyde, with sources claiming there’s no way back for the former BFFS.
Things turned sour when Liv, 24, sensationally ditched Cara, 28, as a bridesmaid shortly before her wedding last Saturday, saying Cara couldn’t “handle the pressure” now that she was mum to nine-month-old Freddie. Ouch.
Despite Liv insisting things are “fine” between them, jilted Cara didn’t take being dumped well, and was set to snub the wedding – as well as refusing to have Liv as her bridesmaid when she marries Nathan Massey, 26.
“I’m a bit upset about the situation, but it’s Olivia’s wedding and I want her to have the best day,” Cara admitted. “But now I have my own bridesmaids, I don’t think I would be able to do that to mine, and still be like, ‘Oh, but come to my wedding.’”
Olivia tried to gloss over axing her friend, calling it “a storm in a teacup”, but heartbroken Cara added, “It’s sad. I didn’t expect it.” And sources close to Cara have said it’s going to be tough for her to get over this. “Cara was so hurt by it, and she doesn’t think they can ever get back to how they were,” our insider says. “They were best friends, and in her eyes, best friends don’t do that to each other. As far as she’s concerned, their friendship is ruined.”
While it’s not known exactly what tasks Olivia had set for her bridesmaids, she recently threw fuel on the fallout fire when she tweeted, “Don’t force someone to make time for you. If they really want to, they will.” In another post, she uploaded a quote reading, “I don’t like forced conversations, forced friendships, forced interactions. I simply do not force things. If we don’t vibe, we don’t vibe.” Explaining the posts, she said, “When you plan a wedding, you do realise who your real friends are. If someone wants to cut me off, I’ll happily give them the scissors.”
Although Liv claimed she wasn’t tweeting about Cara, she was hardly brimming with love for her bestie, adding, “We haven’t spoken in a bit. Everything’s fine between us.” Anyone else feel a chill in the air?
