Kylie Minogue had a lucky, lucky, lucky escape with Joshua

The star’s feeling reflective as her ex gets hitched

Everyone knows about the classic denial and anger stages of a break-up, but the lesserknown phase is the one that comes later: the one where you thank sweet Jesus for the lucky escape you’ve just had. Kylie Minogue reached that point last week, as she watched her ex-boyfriend Joshua Sasse marry his fiancée Louisa Ainsworth – the third one he’s had in two years.

“Kylie finally has the closure she needed,” says an insider close to the pop star. “Seeing the pictures of Joshua with his new bride made her realise what a close call she had nearly marrying him, and she feels lucky she got out when she did.”

It’s Joshua’s third engagement in as many years, after the 30 year old first proposed to Kylie, 50, back in February 2016. The pair split a year later, amid claims the actor got close to his co-star Marta Milans. Within weeks, he’d moved on with actress Harriet Collings, and proposed soon after. But she pulled the plug on their wedding in February, just days before they were due to marry in his hometown of Shropshire, amid claims her family were relieved.

Shortly afterwards, he met Australian businesswoman Louisa and the pair said “I do” in an intimate ceremony at Byron Bay’s register office last week.

“Of course, it’s painful for Kylie and there were a few tears,” says the source. “It hit her hard when she heard about the nuptials through mutual friends. They were engaged – she was planning their wedding! And she feels the fact that he’s since tried to walk down the aisle with two different women has cheapened what they had together.”

Kylie admitted earlier this year that she had to “rebuild myself, physically and mentally a bit,” after her split from Joshua. But in May, she went public with her tall, dark, handsome new boyfriend, Paul Solomons, creative director of GQ magazine, 43. We’re told, “Despite how painful it is seeing her ex move on, it’s also a reminder for Kylie that she’s in a much better place than she was two years ago. She’s with a truly decent, mature man who makes her genuinely happy. It’s given her the contentment she so badly needed.”
